Perfectly Balanced Meal: A Delicious Chicken Stir-Fry Recipe
Chicken stir-fry is a classic dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and dietary preferences. This versatile recipe allows you to create a meal that’s both nutritious and delicious, making it the perfect choice for busy weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients for Chicken Stir-Fry
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large onion, sliced thinly
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup snap peas
- 1/4 cup cornstarch for thickening (optional)
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce (for serving)
Instructions for Chicken Stir-Fry
To prepare:
- First, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and minced garlic. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- In a large frying pan or wok, heat up vegetable oil over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces and stir-fry until they turn golden brown. This should take around 5-6 minutes.
- Once the chicken has cooked through, remove it from the pan and set aside on a plate. You can drain off excess oil if needed for better texture of the vegetables.
- Add more oil or as needed to the same pan and sauté onions until they start to turn translucent. This step should only take about 3 minutes.
- Next, add both red and green bell peppers along with snap peas into the pan. Stir-fry these ingredients for another 5-6 minutes until vegetables are bright in color but still slightly crisp. Ensure not to overcook as you want them to retain their fresh texture.
- To make a savory sauce, combine cornstarch (if using) and soy sauce together with a little bit of water, stirring thoroughly so there are no lumps left behind.
- Return the stir-fried chicken back into the pan along with the vegetable mixture. Pour in the sauce mixture and quickly stir everything together until it’s well combined and coated evenly by the sauce. Let this simmer for another 1-2 minutes to let flavors meld nicely.
- To finish, sprinkle sesame seeds over top as garnish before serving hot. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles on the side if desired!
Cooking Time: Approximately 45 minutes
With this recipe, you will end up making a healthy and filling meal that’s easy to prepare within half an hour. It serves approximately four people nicely.
This dish is rich in protein from the chicken breast or thighs while providing essential vitamins and minerals thanks to its colorful array of vegetables like bell peppers and snap peas. Additionally, soy sauce adds umami flavor without adding excessive salt content making it suitable even for those watching their sodium intake carefully.
